"Who are you?" asked the little prince and added, "You are very beautiful to look at".
"I'm a fox", the fox said.
"Come and play with me" suggested the little prince. "I'm so unhappy".
"I cannot play with you", the fox said. "I'm not charmed".
"Ah! Please, excuse me", said the little prince. But after some thought, he added: "What does that mean - charm?"
"You do not live here", said the fox. "What is it that you are looking for?"
"I'm looking for men", said the little prince. "What does that mean - 'charm'?"
"Men", said the fox. "They have guns and they hunt. It's very disturbing. They also raise chickens. These are their only interests. Are you looking for chickens?"
"No", said the prince. "I'm looking for friends. What does that mean - 'charm'?"
"It's an act too often neglected", said the fox. "It means to establish ties."
"To establish ties?"
"Just that", said the fox. "To me you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I'm nothing more than a fox like a hundred other foxes. But if you charm me, then we will need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I will be unique in all the world..."

"People where you live," the little prince said, "grow five thousand roses in one garden... yet they don't find what they're looking for..."
"They don't find it," I answered.
"And yet what they're looking for could be found in a single rose, or a little water..."
"Of course," I answered.
And the little prince added, "But eyes are blind. You have to look with the heart".
What is life without friends and loved ones?
Good night and sweet dreams :)
""And now here is my secret, a very simple secret...It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important." said the fox.
The most important things in life cannot be bought, that's why they are so precious.
Have a good night and sweet dreams too :)
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."
"It is the time I have wasted for my rose..." said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.
"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose ..."
"I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember."
"What is most important is invisible..."
A very inspirational story which teaches us the true values of life...and the importance of friendship.
Thank you for sharing it with us, dear Maite...for friends will be friends :)
A wonderful story, indeed.
"I don't think it's possible to resist to such a grace and innocence. The Little Prince is a real Prince"
Boa tarde para si :)
Ah, esqueci-me de mencionar que o seu blog está um must :)
A real Prince indeed :)
Unfortunately only a few people really read and understand what the real message is, don't you think so, Maite?
So, courteously, I wish you a very nice day :)
Oh, by the way... thank you, you are most kind... I'm glad you like it... :)
Did I ever tell you that your writings and poems are a must too? :)
I think that much more than read and understand the real message is to value it as something that actually changes the way people deal with reality and the interaction with the others but...it would seem very naïf, wouldn't it?
It reminds me of another extract from the story. When the Little Prince makes acquaintance of the businessman who was very busy counting the stars.
"I myself own a flower," he continued his conversation with the businessman, "which I water every day. I own three volcanoes, which I clean out every week (for I also clean out the one that is extinct; one never knows). It is of some use to my volcanoes, and it is of some use to my flower, that I own them. But you are of no use to the stars . . ."
By the way, thank you for your compliment. (well... I think you have exagerated a "little bit" about my writings but it's ok) :)
Have a nice evening :)
Cara Maite
Não exagerei nada :)
Não queria deixar de passar por aqui para lhe desejar umas boas férias e tudo de bom.
Um abraço
